Manufacturer's description
Burleigh's famous deep cobalt blue pattern has been made continuously in our factory for over 40 years. Its popularity continues as ever! Although unique, this pattern was derived from early Victorian patterns which had their roots in Chinese porcelain, representing the spring with fallen prunus blossom onto cracked ice.
Capture the true spirit of the Victorian era with these beautifully decorated pieces from Burleigh. When taking tea became the height of fashion, our novelty cow creamer designed for pouring milk or cream proved a very popular addition to the table. Originating from Holland in the early 18th Century, Staffordshire potters created an English version with a mouth as a spout and a tail as a handle, Burleigh cows, however, like to be different, they are always lying down, rather than standing up! A talking point at the most elegant of occasions, this much loved piece brings its own unique charm to the quintessentially English tradition.
